Mavericks 140, Lakers 106: Dirk Nowitzki scored 23 points on 8-of-10 shooting as Dallas put together its highest scoring output since 2009 in crushing visiting Los Angeles.
Chandler Parsons added 21 points while Monta Ellis went 7-of-10 en route to 20 points and 10 assists for the Mavericks, who entered the game as the highest-scoring team in the league and extended their advantage over the field. J.J. Barea hit all five of his 3-point attempts while scoring 16 points and leading four reserves in double figures for Dallas, which won its sixth straight game.
Jeremy Lin scored 18 points while Kobe Bryant struggled to 17 on 6-of-22 shooting for the Lakers, who had a season-best two-game winning streak come to an end. Jordan Hill scored 16 points on 7-of-7 shooting and added 10 rebounds for Los Angeles.
The Lakers shot 55.8 percent in the first half but still went into the break down 68-59 before the Mavericks exploded in the third. Ellis started a 14-2 run with a three-point play and finished with three straight 3-pointers to extend the lead to 93-73.
Parsons scored eight points in under two minutes during a 12-4 surge as the lead extended out to 110-83 by the end of the third. Barea’s 3-pointer made it 122-88 with 7:05 to play as the Dallas bench kept the pressure on and completed the rout.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Hill has recorded a double-double in five straight games. … The Mavericks shot 62.2 percent from the floor, including 18-of-35 from 3-point range. … Dallas enjoyed its highest scoring night since a 140-116 victory over Phoenix on Apr. 5, 2009.
