Knicks 93, 76ers 92: Amar'e Stoudemire collected 22 points and 10 rebounds as the visiting Knicks survived a near-collapse to win their eighth straight game and extend the 76ers' franchise-record losing streak to 23.
Carmelo Anthony tallied 21 points on 5-of-16 shooting and Tyson Chandler finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds for New York, which moved within three games of eighth-place Atlanta for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Iman Shumpert made three 3-pointers en route to 11 points off the bench.
Michael Carter-Williams produced 22 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists but had a potential game-tying 3-pointer bounce out in the closing seconds as the 76ers matched the third-longest losing streak in NBA history and pulled within three of tying the all-time run of futility endured by Cleveland in 2010-11. Thaddeus Young scored 21 points and Henry Sims added 16 points and 13 rebounds for Philadelphia, which has dropped 18 in a row at home.
Tim Hardaway Jr. had a pair of dunks midway through the fourth quarter to give the Knicks a 91-74 lead before the Sixers stormed back with a 16-1 run - including 3-pointers by Carter-Williams and Young in the final minute - to get within 92-90. However, James Anderson threw the ball away with 8.6 seconds left and after Anthony split a pair at the line, Carter-Williams' heave fell out and Young's putback at the buzzer was meaningless.
The Sixers led by as many as five points in the first quarter but went 5-for-25 from the floor in a 12-point second as New York pulled in front 41-36 at halftime despite making 1-of-16 3-pointers. The Knicks' advantage sat between two and nine points in the third before a Chandler dunk in the closing seconds gave them a 71-65 lead entering the fourth.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Philadelphia's 23-game slide is tied with three others, most recently Charlotte in 2011-12. The Sixers begin a three-game road trip Saturday in Chicago. ... Philadelphia made 10 of a season-high 41 3-point attempts. ... Philadelphia SG Tony Wroten left in the fourth quarter with a sprained right ankle.
