Trail Blazers 115, Timberwolves 104: LaMarcus Aldridge led six players in double figures with 21 points as Portland dispatched visiting Minnesota.

Wesley Matthews scored 18 points and Mo Williams added 16 off the bench for the Trail Blazers, who won their fifth straight at home. Robin Lopez collected 15 points and 10 rebounds, Damian Lillard scored 14 points and Nicolas Batum recorded 13 points, eight rebounds and five assists as Portland matched last season’s win total (33).

Kevin Martin scored 30 points and Nikola Pekovic recorded 23 points and 11 rebounds for the Timberwolves, who dropped to 0-9 when they have a chance to move over .500. Kevin Love added 15 points and 13 boards as Minnesota had a three-game winning streak come to an end.

The Blazers began the second quarter with a 16-4 burst to take a 10-point lead and went into the break up 65-57. The Timberwolves made their move in the third quarter and took a 79-78 lead on Martin’s 3-pointer with 3:50 left in the period before Portland recovered to grab an 87-81 edge heading to the fourth.

Aldridge converted a 3-point play and Lillard scored five straight points to spread it out to 105-88 with 5:31 left. Minnesota made one last push with points on four straight possessions but could not cut it to single digits.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Aldridge’s first rebound of the night gave him 1,000 points and 500 boards on the season, joining Love as the only two in the NBA to reach both of those marks. … The Blazers dominated the inside, outrebounding the Timberwolves 50-40 and outscoring them in the paint 60-46. … Minnesota G Ricky Rubio handed out 11 assists to reach double figures in the category for the third straight game.
