Jazz 104, Wizards 101: Enes Kanter scored 24 points on 11-of-13 shooting off the bench as Utah rallied to knock off visiting Washington.
Gordon Hayward added 16 points and Alec Burks scored 15 off the bench as the Jazz bounced back from a pair of tough losses. Derrick Favors (hip) returned from a one-game absence and recorded 11 points and 14 rebounds while Trey Burke posted 12 points and eight assists.
Trevor Ariza hit six 3-pointers en route to 23 points and Nene scored 19 for the Wizards (21-22), who dropped to 0-5 when they have a chance to climb above .500. Marcin Gortat added 14 points and 11 rebounds, Bradley Beal had 14 points and eight assists and John Wall scored 13 for Washington.
Ariza’s 3-pointer drew the Wizards within 92-90 with 3:24 left before the Jazz called timeout and regained control with a 7-3 burst capped by Burke’s 3-pointer with 1:23 to play. Ariza connected again from beyond the arc with 52 seconds remaining but Beal and Ariza each missed a tying 3-point attempt in the final 28 ticks and Utah put it away at the line.
Washington led by as much as 13 in the second quarter before settling for a 53-51 edge at the break and maintained control throughout the third until the Jazz closed the period on a 10-6 run to knot it at 77 heading into the final frame. Utah carried that momentum into the fourth and scored the first eight points to grab an 85-77 advantage.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Wizards dropped to 1-1 on a four-game West coast trip that continues with Golden State and Portland on Tuesday and Wednesday. … Kanter totaled eight points in Utah’s previous two games. … Wall handed out four assists, snapping an eight-game streak of at least five.
