Bulls 91, Hawks 84: Mike Dunleavy led the way with 20 points on 9-of-14 shooting off the bench as Chicago held off visiting Atlanta.
Luol Deng collected 17 points and 11 rebounds while Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson each recorded 10 points and 12 boards for the Bulls. D.J. Augustin chipped in 11 points and seven assists in a reserve role for Chicago, which has won five of its last seven.
Paul Millsap had 16 points and 12 rebounds and Jeff Teague also scored 16 points for the Hawks. Mike Scott added 12 points off the bench as Atlanta dropped both ends of a back-to-back.
Scott’s three-point play to start the fourth quarter knotted it at 67 but the Hawks could not get on top. They were within a point with 5:37 left before Dunleavy and Gibson combined on an 8-0 run as Atlanta turned it over on three straight possessions, and the Bulls held the Hawks scoreless over the final 2:40 to put it away.
Chicago led 40-30 on Dunleavy’s 3-pointer with 4:52 left in the second quarter and settled for a 50-45 edge at the break when Deng buried a buzzer-beater from 50 feet. The Bulls held the lead through the third and went into the final period with a 67-64 lead.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Atlanta G Kyle Korver knocked down a 3-pointer just over two minutes into the contest, extending his NBA-record streak to 103 straight games with at least one from beyond the arc. … The Bulls won on the glass 52-43 and outscored the Hawks in the paint 40-34. ... Atlanta dropped to 2-3 since Al Horford went down with a season-ending injury.
