Bulls 96, Cavaliers 81: Carlos Boozer had 17 points and seven rebounds and Derrick Rose added 16 points and seven assists as host Chicago held off Cleveland.
Mike Dunleavy scored 15 points off the bench and Luol Deng added 12 as the Bulls evened their record at 3-3. Jimmy Butler with 11 points and Joakim Noah with 10 also scored in double figures.
Cleveland’s Kyrie Irving scored 12 of his 16 points in the final quarter while struggling through a 5-of-19 shooting performance. Tristan Thompson contributed 14 points and 13 rebounds and Dion Waiters scored 13 points.
The Cavaliers trailed 78-75 after Irving’s basket with 4:54 to play but didn’t score another field goal until Irving hit a 3-pointer in the final minute. Dunleavy drained a 3-pointer to start the decisive 13-2 burst that Deng culminated with back-to-back hoops to make it a 14-point margin.
Chicago held Irving to two points on 0-of-5 shooting while taking a 45-36 halftime lead. The advantage reached 13 four minutes into the third quarter before the Cavaliers cut it to 64-60 entering the final stanza.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Bulls were 24-of-26 from the free-throw line with Deng going 6-for-6 and Dunleavy hitting all five of his attempts. … Cleveland C Andrew Bynum (knee) sets season highs for minutes (21), points (11) and rebounds (six). … Rose tweaked a hamstring late in the game and said afterward that it wasn't a serious injury.
