Spurs 120, Knicks 89: Danny Green broke out of a slump with 24 points and a career-best 10 rebounds and Kawhi Leonard scored 18 points as San Antonio routed host New York.
Tony Parker had 17 points and six assists and Tim Duncan contributed 11 points and 10 rebounds as the Spurs cruised to their fourth consecutive victory. Green made 6-of-9 3-pointers and San Antonio had a 51-33 rebounding edge while improving to 6-1.
Carmelo Anthony and Andrea Bargnani scored 16 points apiece for the Knicks, who lost their third consecutive home game. J.R. Smith made his season debut and had just five points on 1-of-9 shooting in 21 minutes.
Green made two 3-pointers in San Antonio’s game-opening 10-0 run as the Spurs rolled from the outset. San Antonio led 21-4 midway through the opening quarter and shot 61.8 percent in the first half en route to a 61-45 edge at the break.
The Spurs opened the third quarter with a 10-2 spurt and the lead reached 30 on Parker’s basket with 3:34 left in the quarter. San Antonio’s largest lead was 37 points.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Green was just 6-of-20 from 3-point range this season prior to making 6-of-9 attempts against the Knicks. … Smith sat out the first five games for violating the NBA’s drug policy. … The Spurs made 12-of-28 3-point attempts.
