NUGGETS 117, ROCKETS 105: Ty Lawson had 22 points and a career-high 15 assists, and Arron Afflalo scored 11 of his 17 points in the third quarter as visiting Denver snapped a five-game road losing streak.

Rookie Kenneth Faried had 16 points and 11 rebounds for his second consecutive double-double as the Nuggets placed seven players in double figures and outrebounded the Rockets 48-34.

Andre Miller had 16 points and Corey Brewer scored 15, including five in the fourth quarter, for Denver.

Kevin Martin tallied a season-high 35 points for Houston, which has lost two straight after winning four in a row.

Houston led 54-51 at halftime, but Denver opened the third with a 15-5 run. The Rockets responded and led 78-76 before the Nuggets scored the final six points of the quarter, capped by Kosta Koufos’ dunk, to take the lead for good.

Lawson scored seven points in the final period, including a jumper with 2:10 remaining to give the Nuggets a 109-97 lead. He added seven rebounds.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Denver’s Timofey Mozgov left the game midway through the third quarter and did not return after re-injuring his left ankle. Mozgov missed seven games earlier this season. … Houston’s Patrick Patterson left in the fourth quarter after landing hard on his back. … The Nuggets improved to 3-8 against the Southwest Division. … The Rockets have been outrebounded in nine straight games. … Denver won its league-high ninth game when its opponent reaches 100 points.
