Jared Dudley chipped in 17 points and Marcin Gortat collected 13 and 12 rebounds for the Suns, who moved back above .500 at 28-27 as they head out on a six-game road trip.
It looked like Phoenix would run away with the game when it took a 61-47 lead into the break. But the Hawks chipped away in the third quarter, getting it down to 80-71 heading into the final 12 minutes and pulling even at 92-92 when Joe Johnson knocked down a 3-pointer with five minutes left.
Nash responded with a jumper that kicked off an 8-0 spurt over the next four minutes. He added a pair of free throws in the final 24 seconds to seal it for the Suns.
Josh Smith scored 26 points, Jamal Crawford added 19 and Al Horford 17 for Atlanta, which has lost three in a row.
After the game, the Hawks announced they had acquired guard Kirk Hinrich and center-forward Hilton Armstrong from the Washington Wizards for guards Mike Bibby, Maurice Evans and Jordan Crawford and a draft pick.
