Jose Iglesias had three hits, C.J. Cron and Charlie Blackmon had two hits each, and the visiting Colorado Rockies beat the Washington Nationals 3-2 on Saturday night in the second game of a split doubleheader.
Chad Kuhl (4-2) pitched six innings and Daniel Bard got the final three outs for his 11th save for Colorado. Brendan Rodgers singled to extend his hitting streak to 15 games for the Rockies. He is hitting .345 in May.
Yadiel Hernandez homered and Nelson Cruz doubled twice for Washington, which had its season-high three-game winning streak stopped. The Nationals won the first game of the doubleheader, 13-7.
Washington starter Joan Adon allowed two runs on six hits over six innings but didn't get a decision for the first time in 10 starts. He hasn't recorded a win since April 19.
Offense was a little harder to generate in the nightcap. The Nationals went ahead 1-0 in the first inning when Cesar Hernandez led off with a double and scored from third when Cruz doubled with two out.
Colorado got on the board in the third inning off Adon. Brian Serven reached on a one-out error and scored when Yonathan Daza singled with two outs. A throwing error by center fielder Victor Robles allowed Daza to advance to second on the play, and he scored on a single by Blackmon.
Washington tied it in the sixth when Yadiel Hernandez homered with two outs off Kuhl. He allowed two runs on seven hits and struck out seven batters in 6 1/3 innings.
The Rockies got the run back in the seventh off reliever Kyle Finnegan (1-1), who retired the first two batters before running into trouble. Cron and Rodgers reached on singles and Cron scored on a single to left by Iglesias.
Rodgers was thrown trying to go first to third on the hit to end the inning.
