Mariners 4, Rangers 3 (13): Jason Bay delivered a two-out single in the bottom of the 13th inning to give host Seattle the win over Texas and snap an eight-game losing streak.

Kendrys Morales laced a one-out double to right-center field off Michael Kirkman (0-1) and two batters later, Bay hit the game-winning, broken-bat soft liner to left off Ross Wolf to score Morales from third. Yoervis Medina (1-0) pitched 1 2/3 innings and worked out of a jam in the top of the 13th as the Mariners snapped a five-game skid against the Rangers.

A.J. Pierzynski gave Texas a 3-2 lead with a pinch-hit single in the top of the 11th but Seattle knotted the score in the bottom of the inning when Raul Ibanez homered against Joe Nathan for the Texas closer’s first blown save in 17 opportunities this season.

Rangers phenom Jurickson Profar led off the game with a homer against Seattle’s Hisashi Iwakuma, who struck out eight in eight innings and allowed two runs and five hits. Profar (20 years, 95 days) became the youngest player to open a contest with a homer since 18-year-old Lou Klimchock for the Kansas City Athletics in 1958.

The Rangers increased the lead to 2-0 in the second on a sacrifice fly by Leonys Martin. The Mariners tied the score in the sixth when Morales slammed a two-run homer off Nick Tepesch, who gave up two runs and five hits in 5 2/3 innings.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Profar is the fifth-youngest player in major-league history to open a game with a leadoff blast. Klimchock (18 years, 348 days) is the youngest. … Mariners 1B Justin Smoak was held out of the lineup after injuring his right oblique in Saturday’s game. … Nathan had converted 36 consecutive save opportunities on the road before serving up Ibanez’s homer.
