Rockies 9, Astros 7: Jordan Pacheco’s two-out, two-run single broke a 7-7 tie in the eighth as the host Rockies won the opener of the day-night doubleheader.
Pacheco’s clutch hit off Fernando Rodriguez (1-5) followed an error by shortstop Jed Lowrie, who tried an underhanded throw to get a forceout at second.

The Rockies led 5-2 after the first inning. Lowrie belted his eighth homer, a solo shot, in the Astros’ half. In the bottom half, Colorado catcher Wilin Rosario turned on a 3-0 fastball for a two-run homer that capped a five-run outburst.
Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored, and Pacheco finished with three RBIs. Matt Belisle (2-2) tossed a perfect eighth for the win, and Rafael Betancourt pitched a perfect ninth for his ninth save in 10 chances.
Lowrie and Jose Altuve each drove in two for Houston.
