Braves 7, Cardinals 2: Brandon Beachy pitched six strong innings and drove in a run as visiting Atlanta won for the sixth time in the past eight games.

Brian McCann added two hits and two RBIs and light-hitting outfielder Michael Bourn slugged a solo homer for the Braves.

Beachy (4-1) surrendered one run on two hits while striking out six and walking four.

The 25-year old right-hander ran into some trouble in the sixth when he loaded the bases with none out on a single and a pair of walks. Beachy limited the damage to Allen Craig’s sacrifice fly and got out of the jam with a double play.

Atlanta did not let opposing starter Adam Wainwright (2-4) off the hook quite so easily. The Braves loaded the bases on two singles and a walk in the first inning and pushed two runs across as Dan Uggla and McCann each drew bases-loaded walks.

McCann singled in another run in the third and Atlanta chased Wainwright in the fifth, when Tyler Pastornicky and Beachy delivered back-to-back RBI singles.

Bourn, who has homered twice in each of the past two seasons and topped out at five blasts in 2008, took the first pitch from left-hander J.C. Romero out to right in the eighth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Rafael Furcal recorded a pair of hits, drove in a run and scored a run for the Cardinals. … Wainwright, who was charged with five runs on nine hits and five walks, had a two-start winning streak snapped. … The Braves conclude their current nine-game road trip Sunday.
