Mets 5, Orioles 0: Lucas Duda belted a two-run homer and Johan Santana tossed six solid innings as host New York recorded its league-leading eighth shutout by blanking Baltimore for the second straight game.
With New York nursing a 1-0 lead in the sixth inning, Duda deposited a high fastball from Tommy Hunter (3-4) over the wall in right field. The blast was Duda's team-leading 11th - and first in 12 days - while the homer was Hunter's 18th allowed this season.
Jordany Valdespin ripped a two-run single in the seventh inning and David Wright extended his hitting streak to 10 games for the Mets, who extended Baltimore's scoreless streak to 21 innings. New York also posted a 5-0 win in the series opener.
Santana (5-3) scattered four hits and struck out five to improve to 4-1 at Citi Field this season. The veteran improved to 5-0 in his last six meetings with the Orioles.
Three relievers combined to allow just one hit over the final three innings to seal the win.
Matt Wieters had a pair of doubles for the Orioles, who have dropped two after winning seven of their previous eight.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Baltimore's Wilson Betemit, who was 7-for-15 in his previous five games, entered the game in the seventh inning. He made a defensive lapse in judgment when he elected to throw out Omar Quintanilla at home - rather than attempt an inning-ending double play. Valdespin made him pay with his two-run single in the next at-bat. ... Hunter allowed five runs on seven hits in 6 1/3 innings. ... After going hitless in 16 at-bats, Quintanilla led off the seventh inning with a single. ... Ike Davis saw his nine-game hitting streak come to an end.
