Red Wings 3, Coyotes 2: Pavel Datsyuk scored on a third-period power play and added an assist to help lift Detroit to its fifth straight road victory.

Datsyuk set up Johan Franzen for the tying goal during a man advantage late in the second period and defenseman Ian White also scored for the Red Wings, who have won seven of their last 11 regular-season meetings with the Coyotes. Jonas Gustavsson made 28 saves in his first start since March 13.

Martin Hanzal and Rob Klinkhammer tallied for the Coyotes, who are winless in their last six games (0-5-1). Jason LaBarbera made his first start since March 6 and stopped 32 shots.

With the game tied at 2-2 and Klinkhammer in the penalty box serving a bench minor, Datsyuk scooped a loose puck over LaBarbera’s pad 6:12 into the third period for his 11th point in eight games. Defenseman Niklas Kronwall assisted on both power-play goals for the Red Wings.

White’s point shot through traffic gave the Red Wings a 1-0 lead four minutes into the game, but Hanzal responded by tipping Radim Vrbata’s shot past Gustavsson during a power play. Klinkhammer made it 2-1 with 7:43 remaining in the opening period, flipping a rebound over a prone Gustavsson.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Datsyuk has collected 57 points in 39 career games against the Coyotes. … Phoenix G Mike Smith is day-to-day after leaving Thursday’s game against Vancouver. Chad Johnson was recalled from the American Hockey League and served as LaBarbera's backup. … Coyotes LW Lauri Korpikoski was awarded a penalty shot after he was impeded on a short-handed breakaway with 4:12 remaining in the third period. But Gustavsson got an arm on his wrist shot to preserve Detroit’s lead.
