KINGS 2, OILERS 0:
Slava Voynov broke a scoreless tie 34 seconds into the third period and Jonathan Quick posted his league-leading 10th shutout as host Los Angeles took a two-point lead in the Pacific Division.

Dwight King added an insurance marker with 2:32 remaining as the Kings moved two points ahead of Phoenix, three in front of San Jose and four clear of Dallas in the crowded Pacific.

Quick needed to make only 19 saves to record his 24th career shutout and improve to 7-1-3 lifetime versus Edmonton. Devan Dubnyk made 35 stops as the Oilers lost in regulation for the first time in eight road games.

Voynov took Anze Kopitar’s feed from behind the net and one-timed a wrist shot between Dubnyk’s pads while King accepted a pass from Mike Richards on a two-on-one and beat Dubnyk to the blocker side.

The Kings nearly took a 1-0 lead in the second period when Dustin Penner’s shot trickled through Dubnyk, but the net was knocked off one of its pegs a split second before the puck crossed the goal line.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Los Angeles got good news on Monday when an MRI revealed no ligament or structural damage – only a deep bone bruise – to Jeff Carter’s injured ankle. Carter missed his third straight game Monday and it is unclear whether he will be available for the huge season-ending home-and-home series with San Jose Thursday and Saturday. … The Kings dominated in the faceoff circle 35-18. … Los Angeles captain Dustin Brown hit the post in the first period and was robbed by Dubnyk in the second.
