Graham Gano kicked a 31-yard field goal at the 12:13 mark of overtime to lift the Washington Redskins to a 20-17 victory over the host Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

Rex Grossman passed for a touchdown and Ryan Torain rushed for another for the Redskins (6-9), who snapped a four-game slide.

The Redskins grabbed the early lead, getting a 48-yard field goal from Gano less than two minutes into the game and pushing it to 10-0 less than five minutes later when Grossman found tight end Fred Davis with a 1-yard touchdown pass.

Jacksonville (8-7) battled back, cutting it to 10-7 in the second quarter when David Garrard hit Mike Thomas down the middle with a 19-yard touchdown pass. Josh Scobee’s field goal in the third knotted it at 10-10 in the third.

Torain’s 1-yard burst early in the fourth put Washington on top again, but Garrard, without top running back Maurice Jones-Drew due to a knee injury, took off running himself late in the game, scampering in for a 20-yard touchdown with 2:44 left to force overtime.

The Jaguars are still in the hunt for an AFC South title but they need some help from division co-leader Indianapolis, which is at Oakland later Sunday.
