Luka Garza came off the bench to score 23 points and grab 13 rebounds Sunday as Iowa routed Southern 91-60 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City, Iowa.

Guard Isaiah Moss added 12 points -- all from the 3-point arc -- as the Hawkeyes (5-6) ran off and hid from the Jaguars (2-8) in the second half. Jack Nunge contributed 11 points for Iowa.

Aaron Ray scored 12 points for Southern, while Jared Sam added 11 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double. Chris Thomas contributed 10 points.

There were four ties and three lead changes in the first half, when Southern led by as many as six points and still owned a 25-23 edge as late as the 6:38 mark. Iowa finally took charge with an 18-6 spurt that ended the first half and gave the Hawkeyes a 41-31 advantage at intermission.

The Jaguars closed within eight early in the second half on two foul shots by Ray with 17:25 left, but the Hawkeyes pulled away with a 14-2 spurt. From there, the lead gradually grew to 35 points in the final two minutes.

Iowa canned 13 of 32 3-point attempts, helping make up for 44.4 percent shooting overall from the field. The Hawkeyes sank 22 of 28 at the foul line and drew assists on 22 of their 28 field goals.

The Jaguars hung with Iowa on the glass, only getting outrebounded 46-45, but shot terribly, going 21 of 70 (30 percent) from the field and 3 of 21 (14.3 percent) from 3-point range. Thanks largely to Garza, Iowa almost doubled Southern in bench points, 52-27.
