Matt Ryan came off the bench to score a career-high 23 points to help Notre Dame remain unbeaten with a 91-60 victory over Chicago State on Saturday at Purcell Pavilion in South Bend, Ind.

Ryan made 7 of 14 shots from 3-point range to lead four players who scored in double figures for Notre Dame (6-0). Steve Vasturia scored 19 points, V.J. Beachem had 15 points, and Bonzie Colson added 10 points, 11 rebounds and five assists.

Trayvon Palmer had 15 points and nine rebounds for Chicago State (2-3).

The Cougars led 10-6 early, but it Fighting Irish quickly took control. They mounted a 13-0 run to expand the margin to 19-10 on a 3-pointer by Ryan.

The Irish followed with an 8-0 run to go up 27-12 on a dunk by Colson.

The Cougars got within 10 later in the half and trailed by 11 with 3:45 to play before halftime, but two 3-pointers by Vasturia and another by Ryan helped Notre Dame carry a 50-31 lead into the break.

The Irish went up by 20 early in the second half and 68-43 on a layup by Temple Gibbs. They led by as many as 28 later in the game.

Notre Dame shot 51.5 percent from the field and 45.9 percent from 3-point range. The Irish made 17 3-pointers and amassed a considerable 43-30 rebounding advantage.

Chicago State shot 38.6 percent from the field and made 9 of 26 from beyond the arc. The Cougars made just 7 of 16 free throws and committed 15 turnovers.

Colson posted his third straight double-double for Notre Dame. He had 22 points and 12 rebounds against Colorado, and 13 points and 11 rebounds against Northwestern. He now has seven double-doubles in his career.
