Purdue 63, Illinois 58: Rapheal Davis scored 18 points as the Boilermakers surged past the visiting Illini in the second half of a Big Ten matchup.

A.J. Hammons added 16 points and 10 rebounds for Purdue (20-11, 12-6), which finished tied for third in the conference with Iowa and Michigan State. Jon Octeus added 11 points in his final home game for the Boilermakers while P.J. Thompson led the reserves with seven.

Rayvonte Rice scored 25 points to lead Illinois (19-12, 9-9), which finished tied for seventh with Indiana. Malcolm Hill contributed 15 points while Nnanna Egwu finished with nine rebounds and four steals for the Illini.

Purdue scored only two points through the first 8 1/2 minutes as Illinois surged to a 13-point lead. The Boilermakers managed to trim the deficit to 26-21 at the half and took their first lead since 2-0 on Davis's 3-pointer with 16:20 remaining.

The 11-0 run continued as Hammons made back-to-back baskets inside and Davis sank a jumper for a 37-30 lead with 14:09 left. The Illini cut the deficit back to seven three times, but that was as close as they’d get before Purdue extended its lead to 57-43 with 2:57 to play.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Illinois, which came in leading the nation in free-throw shooting percentage at 79.9, finished 18-for-26 at the line. … Purdue had 13 assists on 18 field goals, while the Illini recorded six on 18. … Purdue C Isaac Haas, who came in averaging 8.2 points, went scoreless after missing all three of his shots.
