LSU 88, Northwestern State 74: Andre Stringer and Johnny O'Bryant III scored 21 points apiece as the Tigers dominated the road-weary Demons, who played SEC opponents on back-to-back nights.

O'Bryant III had 14 rebounds and Jordan Mickey added 10 points and 13 rebounds for LSU (1-1), which rebounded from a season-opening loss to Massachusetts. Anthony Hickey scored 11 points and John Odo pulled down eight rebounds off the bench.

Brison White led the Demons in scoring with 17 points while DeQuan Hicks added 16 to go with five steals and four assists for Northwestern State (2-1). Zikiteran Woodley and Gary Stewart contributed eight points apiece and Hicks led the team in rebounds with 11.

The Tigers dominated from the opening tip-off, not allowing the Demons to take the lead at any point during the game. LSU had an 11-point lead with 10:56 left in the first half and Northwestern State went into the break trailing 40-31 despite both teams shooting under 33 percent from the field.

Jalan West pulled the Demons within four points after he sank a jumper with 11:34 to go in the second half but the Tigers continued to pour it on and opened a 19-point lead with just under seven minutes to go. With 3:05 remaining, Northwestern State cut the lead to 81-71 but was held to just three more points as LSU hit its next three shots to secure the win.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Stringer became the 39th player in LSU history to score 1,000 points in his career. ... LSU's Darcy Malone scored five points in his first game after missing the opener with a facial injury that required stitches. ...
