Northwestern 72, Illinois State 69 (OT): Drew Crawford scored 20 points and Dave Sobolewski scored nine of his 16 in overtime as the Wildcats withstood the Redbirds and Tyler Brown to win the South Padre Island Invitational.

Sobolewski gave Northwestern (6-0) the lead for good with a 3-pointer in overtime and the Wildcats took advantage of strong free throw shooting to hold off Illinois State (5-1) and the near heroics of Brown, who scored a career-high 36 points.

Brown drained a 3-pointer with 10 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 55 and single-handedly tried to bring the Redbirds back. Brown scored 12 of Illinois State's 14 points in the extra session, but it was not enough to overcome 10-of-20 shooting from the charity stripe for Illinois State.

Jared Swopshire had 15 points, including six in overtime, and 10 rebounds for Northwestern while Reggie Hearn added 12 points.

Jackie Carmichael had 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Redbirds, but was 3-of-10 from the free throw line.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Northwestern's Mike Turner came off the bench and grabbed 10 rebounds. ... Brown was 12-of-20 from the field, including 7-for-13 from 3-point range. ... Northwestern has won 21 straight games in November, the second longest streak in the nation trailing only Syracuse (29).
