Cleanthony Early had 17 points and 11 rebounds and the visiting Shockers pulled away in the second half against the Bears.

Carl Hall added 15 points for Wichita State (18-2, 7-1 MVC), which trailed 33-25 with 16:19 remaining before taking control with a 19-2 run. The Shockers shot 37 percent overall after making seven of their 26 shots (27 percent) in the first half.

Freshman Gavin Thurman led Missouri State (5-15, 3-5) with a career-high 21 points and Anthony Downing added 14 points. Marcus Marshall finished with seven points on 3-of-12 shooting, including 1-of-7 from beyond the arc.

The Bears scored 19 unanswered points to grab their eight-point lead in the second half, but Wichita State controlled the boards and led 57-45 with 4:10 to play. The Shockers outrebounded Missouri State 39-32.

Wichita State, which ended Creighton’s 11-game winning streak with a 67-64 victory on Saturday, took over sole possession of first place in the conference after the Bluejays lost 74-69 to Drake on Wednesday.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Wichita State G Demetric Williams became the winningest player in school history with 99 victories. …Both teams shot 23.8 percent (5-of-21) from 3-point range. … The Shockers improved to 19-3 in conference road games over the last two-plus seasons.
