Oregon State 86, San Diego 79: Eric Moreland scored a career-high 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the Beavers held on to win the first basketball game ever played at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Roberto Nelson also scored 20 and made his only two 3-point attempts, improving to 15-for-20 in the last four games from beyond the arc. Devon Collier also came off the bench to score 18 and block four shots for Oregon State (9-2).

Chris Manresa scored a season-high 18 points, Ken Rancifer had 14 and Johnny Dee added 12 for San Diego (6-7).

Oregon State led by 15 points at the half, but the Toreros whittled the deficit to two on a pair of free throws by John Sinis with 3:59 remaining. Moreland followed with a dunk off an assist from Ahmad Starks to start a 7-0 run that finished off San Diego.

San Diego stayed in the game in part by grabbing 12 offensive rebounds and forcing 18 turnovers.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The game helped serve as a test run for Pac-12 officials who will host the conference tournament in March at the Grand Garden Arena. … San Diego PG Christopher Anderson entered the week ranked 17th in the nation in steals (2.75) and 20th in assists (6.2). He finished with 11 points and eight assists. … Collier, the team's second leading scorer coming in (15.1), returned to the bench after making his first start of the season in Wednesday’s victory against Howard.
