Eastern Michigan 47, Purdue 44: Derek Thompson scored all eight of his points in the second half as the Eagles held on for the upset win over the visiting Boilermakers.

Despite shooting just 30.9 percent from the field and missing 11 of its 19 free throw attempts, Eastern Michigan (6-2) notched its first-ever win over Purdue and just its 10th in 81 games against Big Ten Conference teams.

After trailing by as many as nine in the first half, the Eagles used an 8-2 run early in the second half to take the lead for good. EMU, which did not hit a 3-point field goal in the opening 20 minutes, connected on five from beyond the arc in the first nine minutes after halftime to take a 44-34 lead with 8:27 remaining.

Terone Johnson led the Boilermakers (4-5) with 12 points and eight rebounds but missed a potential go-ahead 3-pointer with 13 seconds remaining and committed a turnover on Purdue's last possession with two seconds left. A.J. Hammons added 11 points and seven boards as Purdue failed again to get over the .500 mark.

GAME NOTEBOOK: After committing a season-high 24 turnovers in a loss at No. 4 Syracuse earlier this week, Eastern Michigan had a season-low four against Purdue. ... Boilermakers senior G D.J. Byrd, the team's second leading scorer (9.8), was held to two points on a pair of free throws and went 0-5 from 3-point range. Byrd has scored just two total points and is 0-for-14 from 3-point range in his team's last two Saturday games. ... Eastern Michigan did not score a field goal in the final 8:27 of the game and went just 3-for-7 from the free throw line in that stretch.
