No. 1 Indiana 83, No. 13 North Carolina 59: Cody Zeller scored 20 points and Victor Oladipo had a season-high 19 as the host Hoosiers ran away from the Tar Heels early in the second half of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge game.

Zeller, a 7-foot sophomore forward and potential No. 1 overall NBA draft pick, added eight rebounds and four blocked shots for Indiana (7-0). Oladipo, a 6-5 junior guard who came in averaging 11 points, joined Will Sheehey with 19.

Dexter Strickland scored 14 points to lead North Carolina (5-2), Marcus Paige had 11 and James Michael McAdoo and Brice Johnson scored 10 each. Reggie Bullock, the team’s No. 2 scorer entering the contest (12.7), went scoreless in the first half before finishing with five points.

The game was close until the waning minutes of the first half, which Zeller finished with a tip-in at the buzzer for a 46-37 lead.

North Carolina then went scoreless the first five minutes of second half, allowing Indiana to go on 13-0 run and stretch its advantage to 59-37.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Indiana senior guard Jordan Hulls came into the game 24th in NCAA Division I in assist-to-turnover ratio with 23 assists and five turnovers (4.6). He finished with eight assists and no turnovers. He also sank three 3-pointers to move within five of No. 2 on the school’s all-time career list. … North Carolina closed the game on an 8-0 run to avoid losing by the largest margin in history against Indiana (26 points in 1964). … Indiana senior forward Christian Watford, the team’s leading scorer two years ago, avoided going scoreless for the first time in his career by scoring on a slam dunk with 4:56 remaining in the game.
