Washington State 72, Utah Valley 49: Reigning Pac-12 Conference scoring champion Brock Motum scored a game-high 15 points as the host Cougars raced out to a 45-22 halftime lead and cruised to an easy victory.

Washington State (2-0) shot 51.8 percent percent from the floor, finished with 16 assists and held a 25-20 rebounding edge over the Wolverines (1-2), the defending champions of the Great West Conference.

Sophomore guard DaVonte Lacy added 11 points for the Cougars - all in the first half - to go with six assists. Lacy's 3-pointer highlighted an early 10-0 run that put the Cougars up 12-4, and Washington State methodically pulled away after that.

Sophomore guard Dexter Kernich-Drew came off the bench to score 14 points and senior guard Mike Ladd added 13 points for the Cougars.

Junior center Ben Aird led Utah Valley with 10 points and five rebounds.
