Anthony Bennett had 22 points and seven rebounds and Bryce Dejean-Jones added 15 points as the Rebels cruised to victory in their season opener.

UNLV led 29-23 with 4:49 left in the first half before closing the half on a 16-0 run to pull away from the Lumberjacks (0-2), who fell to 0-23 all-time against nationally ranked teams. Anthony Marshall and Katin Reinhardt added 14 points apiece for UNLV.

After opening the season with an encouraging 83-73 loss at Oregon, Northern Arizona shot only 25 percent (15-of-60), including 5-of-21 from beyond the arc. Dewayne Russell had 16 points to lead the Lumberjacks.

Mike Moser, who led the Rebels in scoring last season, had two points on 1-of-6 shooting and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds. UNLV shot 50 percent (33-of-66) and won its eighth straight season opener.

Gabe Rogers had 13 points on 4-of-21 shooting for Northern Arizona, which lost starters Ephraim Ekanem and Stallon Saldivar to injuries early in the first half. The Lumberjacks were outrebounded 47-21.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Northern Arizona has lost 18 consecutive games, including a 16-game streak to end the 2011-12 season. …UNLV drew the largest crowd for a home opener in school history with 18,187 in attendance. … The Rebels have won four straight over the Lumberjacks and 11 of the last 12 meetings.
