Showing no ill effects from his jammed toe, Nolan Smith scored 27 points and dished out six assists to lead No. 5 Duke past Virginia Tech 77-63 Saturday in an ACC semifinal in Greensboro, N.C.

The Blue Devils (29-4) will go for their 10th ACC tournament crown in 13 years when they face No. 7 North Carolina (26-6) at 1 p.m. Sunday. The archrivals split during the regular season, each winning at home.

Duke built an 11-point halftime lead and never let the Hokies get closer than six in avenging a 64-60 loss in Blacksburg, Va., on Feb. 26,

Senior guard Malcolm Delaney led Virginia Tech with 19 points, but shot 4 of 14. The Hokies hit only 2 of 16 from beyond the arc.

Kyle Singler had 13 points and 11 rebounds for Duke, and Seth Curry added 10 points. Smith shined despite the toe injury, which forced him out of Friday’s quarterfinal win over Maryland.

While the Blue Devils aim for a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, Virginia Tech (21-11) will sweat out Selection Sunday hoping to make the field for the first time since 2007.
