Draymond Green had 15 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists as Michigan State began what it hopes is a late-season NCAA Tournament push with a 75-57 victory over visiting Penn State on Thursday.

Kalin Lucas scored 15 of his 24 points in a first-half onslaught for the Spartans (12-11, 6-6 Big Ten), who had lost five of six, including their last two to Iowa and Wisconsin by a combined 46 points to put themselves on the NCAA bubble.

Green had five offensive rebounds and drained all nine free throws to join Magic Johnson (eight times) and Charlie Bell as the only players in Michigan State history to record a triple-double.

Jeff Brooks scored 15 points on 6-of-6 shooting for the Nittany Lions (12-11, 5-7), who have lost three straight and five of seven to fall off the tournament bubble. The 6-8 senior missed the second half of last week’s loss at Illinois and Sunday’s defeat at Michigan with a separated right shoulder.

The Spartans held the conference’s No. 2 scorer, Talor Battle, to 7-of-20 shooting and 19 points - most coming after the game had been decided.

Michigan State got consecutive 3-pointers from Lucas and jumped to a 15-3 lead in the first five minutes, and pushed the edge to 24-8 midway through the half. A right-corner 3-pointer from Lucas and a left-corner trey from Durrell Summers in the final possessions of the half provided Michigan State a 41-21 edge.

Penn State got within 49-39 with eight minutes left after a 3-pointer and a baseline jumper by Brooks, but Michigan State scored the next six to pull clear.
