Nolan Smith led all scorers with 28 points as No. 3 Duke took advantage of a sloppy Boston College side to earn an 84-68 win Thursday, the Blue Devils' fifth victory in a row.

Smith led the nation's fourth-ranked offense to another dominant performance, shooting 10 for 20 from the field and hitting all seven free throws as Duke (19-1, 6-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) shot 50 percent from the field. Smith also had eight of the Blue Devils' 16 assists.

The Blue Devils and Eagles (14-7, 4-3 ACC) were locked in a tight struggle for the first 17 minutes before Duke took control. Seth Curry scored six straight Blue Devil points while Kyle Singler added a 3-pointer in the final minute as Duke opened up a 39-32 halftime lead.

Turnovers were the difference in the half as Boston College surrendered 12 compared to four by Duke.

The Eagles closed to within five points early in the second half but could get no closer as Curry hit a pair of 3-pointers three minutes apart to boost the advantage to double digits.

Curry finished with 20 points while Ryan Kelly and Singer added 14 apiece. Kelly also had four blocked shots.

Corey Raji led the way with 18 points for Boston College, which fell two full games behind Duke for first place in the conference. Reggie Jackson, who came into the game second to Smith in ACC scoring, had seven points on 3-of-11 shooting.
