Struggling to shake off a humbling loss and a pesky Boston University squad, Kentucky finally found its championship-caliber form after halftime Tuesday.

A 28-5 run in the first seven minutes of the second half turned a five-point game into a rout, the No. 11 Wildcats rebounding from their first loss of the season to thrash the Terriers 91-57 at Rupp Arena.

Kentucky (5-1) came in having not played since an ugly 84-67 loss to No. 9 Connecticut in the finals of the Maul Invitational on Wednesday. In an early-season showdown between two of the nation’s best teams, the Wildcats shot just 37 percent and never led against the Huskies.

Tuesday, the Wildcats built nine-point leads twice in the first half. Boston rallied both times, but Terrence Jones sank a jumper with four seconds left before the half, sending Kentucky into the locker room up 39-34.

The Wildcats came out gunning in the second half, scoring 12 unanswered points to extend their lead to 51-34 on Brandon Knight’s 3-pointer with 17:16 remaining. Kentucky would score 16 of the next 21 points, Doron Lamb’s 3-pointer pushing the lead to 67-39 with 12:56 left. Knight led the Wildcats with 23 points. John Holland scored 20 to lead Boston.

The Wildcats hit the road Saturday for North Carolina, facing a Tar Heels team that started the season ranked No. 8, but has since dropped from the Top 25. The Terriers play Saturday at Bucknell.
