Jeffery Taylor scored 27 points on 11-of-12 shooting and Vanderbilt rolled to an 88-47 victory over Presbyterian on Friday in the opener for both teams.

The Commodores won 24 games last season, but lost in the first round of the NCAA tournament to Murray State. Now they are a team in transition.

Taylor, who shot 3-of-4 from beyond the arc, will be counted on heavily to make up for the losses of point guard Jermaine Beal and star center A.J. Ogilvy.

The sophomore didn’t disappoint in this one, and neither did his teammates.

Festus Ezeli (who is replacing Ogilvy) had 14 points and Brad Tinsley scored 11 for the Commodores, who shot 59 percent from the field (39 of 52) and led by 20 points at halftime.

Al'Lonzo Coleman had 17 points for the Blue Hose, who shot 4 of 15 from 3-point range.
