Clippers 112, Pistons 103: Chris Paul had 28 points and 15 assists and matched his season high of six steals while Blake Griffin added 25 points, seven rebounds and seven assists as Los Angeles handed Detroit its 13th consecutive road loss.

Matt Barnes and Danny Granger scored 14 points apiece and DeAndre Jordan contributed 12 rebounds and five blocked shots as the Clippers remained 1 1/2 games ahead of the Houston Rockets in the battle for third place in the Western Conference. Paul raised his career assists count to 6,011 and joined Magic Johnson, John Stockton and Isiah Thomas as the only NBA players to reach 6,000 career assists before turning 29 years old.

Jonas Jerebko made five 3-pointers to match his career high of 22 points but couldn’t prevent the Pistons from suffering their fifth consecutive defeat. Brandon Jennings added 19 points and Andre Drummond had 16 points and 12 rebounds for Detroit.

The Pistons crept within six points on Greg Monroe’s putback with 3:53 left but Los Angeles went on a 8-1 surge to boost its lead to 108-95 with 2:09 left. Detroit never trailed by fewer than nine points down the stretch as the Clippers won for the 12th time in 13 games.

Los Angeles led 56-55 at halftime and opened the third quarter with an 18-3 surge over the first eight-plus minutes as the Pistons missed their first 12 field-goal attempts. Detroit ended the drought and cut a 16-point deficit to 80-70 entering the fourth quarter.
