Pistons 96, Knicks 85: Andre Drummond collected 17 points and a career-high 26 rebounds as Detroit handed New York its seventh straight loss.

Rodney Stuckey added 16 points off the bench and Josh Smith scored 15 for the Pistons, who snapped a four-game slide. Will Bynum chipped in 16 points in a reserve role while Greg Monroe had 11 points and nine rebounds for Detroit.

Carmelo Anthony scored 28 points and Amar’e Stoudemire added 22 in a rare start for the Knicks, who shot 38.6 percent from the floor. Tyson Chandler hauled in 18 rebounds and J.R. Smith scored 16 points in the losing effort.

The Knicks held a 44-39 lead at the half but the Pistons opened the third quarter with an 8-1 burst to grab the lead and pushed it out to 63-56 on Drummond’s basket with 3:54 left in the period. Anthony’s 3-pointer at the buzzer trimmed the deficit to 69-64 heading into the fourth but New York did not score again until Stoudemire’s jumper with 6:58 left.

Bynum drained a 3-pointer to push the advantage to 82-69 with 5:39 to play and the Knicks never closed the gap. Bynum’s steal and layup with 2:50 to play extended the lead to 17 points as Detroit put it away.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Drummond had the most rebounds for a Pistons player since Ben Wallace grabbed 28 boards on Mar. 24, 2002. … Drummond’s effort helped Detroit build up a 54-40 advantage on the glass. … The Knicks’ reserves were outscored 36-7.
