J.J. Barea also scored 20 points and star point guard Ricky Rubio overcame a horrid shooting performance to score six of his 10 points in the final four-plus minutes as the Timberwolves won for the third time in four games.

Brandon Knight led Detroit with 25 points. Rodney Stuckey added 20 off the bench as the Pistons fell to 0-14 on the road against Western Conference opponents.

The Timberwolves led by nine points late in the third quarter but allowed Detroit to tie it at 83 on a Greg Monroe basket with 10:23 left. Knight's 3-pointer with 2:31 left in the game pulled the Pistons within 98-97, but Rubio answered with two free throws and added his only basket in 13 attempts to make it 102-99 with 54 seconds left.

Knight had a layup on the next possession. However, Minnesota got multiple offensive rebounds in the final minute and hit five free throws to seal it.
