Luis Arraez hit the go-ahead RBI groundout in the top of the 10th inning, and Tanner Scott earned the save in the bottom of the frame as the red-hot San Diego Padres defeated the host Miami Marlins 9-8 on Saturday.

Both Arraez and Scott were traded by the Marlins to the Padres this year. Arraez went 2-for-6 with three RBIs. Scott pitched one scoreless inning, striking out Jake Burger with two runners on to end the game to pick up his first save for San Diego and 19th of the season.

Padres third baseman Manny Machado, a Miami native, made the game's key defensive play, throwing Vidal Brujan out at the plate in the 10th inning.

The Padres won their seventh straight game -- the longest active run in the majors.

San Diego scored in the opening inning as Arraez singled and scored from first on Jake Cronenworth's sliced double to the gap in left-center.

The Padres made it 2-0 in the third as Jurickson Profar stroked a two-out single, advanced on a hit-by-pitch and scored on Machado's single off the glove of second baseman Otto Lopez.

San Diego extended its lead to 3-0 in the fourth as David Peralta doubled and scored on Ha-Seong Kim's single.

Miami got on the board in the fourth as Brujan jacked a 415-foot homer to center.

The Marlins sent 12 batters to the plate in the fifth. The rally started with Xavier Edwards' single and Burger's walk. Jesus Sanchez then tied the score 3-3 with a two-run, opposite-field double to left.

Moments later, Lopez did the same thing to right field, giving Miami a 5-3 advantage. The final runs of the rally scored on Derek Hill's sacrifice fly and on Jhonny Pereda's RBI single.

In the seventh, the Padres loaded the bases with no outs on three straight singles before Arraez and Cronenworth hit RBI groundouts. On the latter play, Marlins shortstop Edwards made a stellar play to get a force at second.

The Padres scored three runs in the eighth. First, Xander Bogaerts walked, and Jackson Merrill hit a two-run homer.

Then, Peralta doubled and was replaced by pinch-runner Bryce Johnson, who raced to third on Kim's sacrifice bunt. With two outs, Arraez beat out an infield single to Lopez at second, giving San Diego an 8-7 lead.

Miami tied the score 8-8 in the bottom of the eighth as Burger jumped on a 98-mph fastball by reliever Adrian Morejon. Burger's blast hit the top of the wall in right-center before continuing over the fence.

Robert Suarez (7-1) won for the Padres, and Miami's John McMillon (0-1) took the loss.
