Pete Alonso, Todd Frazier and Wilson Ramos homered, Zack Wheeler pitched seven strong innings, and the New York Mets cruised to a 10-2 win over the host Chicago Cubs on Saturday afternoon.

The Mets scored in each of the first six innings and came within one run of matching their season high. Jeff McNeil contributed three RBIs.

Alonso has 26 home runs, setting a record for a National League rookie prior to the All-Star break. The blast tied Alonso for the Mets' franchise record for most home runs by a rookie, matching Darryl Strawberry in 1983.

Jason Heyward had two singles and a double to lead the Cubs at the plate.

Wheeler (6-5) limited the Cubs to one run on five hits. He walked one and struck out five.

Cubs starter Jose Quintana (4-7) allowed nine runs (eight earned) on nine hits in 4 1/3 innings. He walked two and fanned two, and his winless streak increased to nine starts. His last victory came May 5 against the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Mets grabbed a 1-0 lead on Alonso's shot in the first. New York increased its lead to 3-0 in the second when McNeil poked a two-run single down the third-base line to drive in Ramos and Amed Rosario.

In the third, Frazier lifted a high fly ball into a friendly wind blowing toward left field. The ball carried into the bleachers for Frazier's eighth homer of the season, a two-run shot that made it 5-0.

McNeil drove in his third run with a double in the fourth that scored Rosario from second base.

The Mets chased Quintana with three more runs in the fifth to increase their lead to 9-0. Michael Conforto hit an RBI single, and Ramos followed with a two-run homer, his eighth of the season.

Frazier added an RBI single in the sixth to give New York a double-digit advantage.

The Cubs snapped the shutout in the seventh when Willson Contreras scored on a double-play groundout by Victor Caratini.

Heyward scored on a wild pitch in the ninth.
