Dodgers 2, Padres 1: Clayton Kershaw pitched a three-hitter and struck out 11 as Los Angeles edged visiting San Diego in the opener of a four-game series.

Kershaw (11-2) had his scoreless streak snapped at 41 innings when Chase Headley blasted a solo homer over the center-field wall with two outs in the sixth. Kershaw won his eighth straight start while throwing 115 pitches and recording his third complete game this season and 14th of his career.

Hanley Ramirez and Scott Van Slyke had two hits apiece for the Dodgers, who ended a two-game losing skid. Los Angeles took an early lead in the fourth when Yasiel Puig belted a leadoff double off Odrisamer Despaigne (2-1) and later scored on Van Slyke’s two-out single to right field.

Despaigne allowed two runs on seven hits while striking out seven over seven frames for the Padres, who committed four errors and lost for the fifth time in their last six games. Headley, who entered the game without a home run in 48 career at-bats against Kershaw, tied the game with his seventh homer.

The Dodgers answered in the bottom half as Ramirez singled to begin the inning, stole second and moved to third on catcher Yasmani Grandal’s throwing error. After Puig grounded out, Ramirez scored easily on Adrian Gonzalez’s fly ball to center field.
