Indians 15, Blue Jays 4: David Murphy went 5-for-6 with five RBIs and Corey Kluber worked seven strong innings as visiting Cleveland evened the series with Toronto.

Yan Gomes hit a three-run homer, Carlos Santana added a two-run blast, Lonnie Chisenhall had five hits and an RBI and Asdrubal Cabrera singled in a run among three hits for the Indians, who piled up a season-high 22 hits. Kluber (4-3) was the beneficiary of all that offense and made it stand up by surrendering two runs on four hits while striking out nine.

Dustin McGowan (2-2) was knocked around for four runs on nine hits and a pair of walks in four-plus innings to suffer the loss for the Blue Jays. Brett Lawrie, Jose Bautista and Juan Francisco each delivered an RBI double for Toronto, which dropped back below .500 at 20-21.

Santana walked and stole second leading off the second inning before coming around to score on Murphy’s single to right. Murphy led off the fourth with a double and scored on Chisenhall’s single to right, and Michael Brantley doubled off McGowan leading off the fifth in front of Santana, who sent a 3-1 fastball into the second deck for a 4-0 lead.

The Blue Jays cut the deficit in half on the RBI doubles by Lawrie and Bautista in the fourth and fifth innings, but Murphy and Mike Aviles each singled in a run off rookie Marcus Stroman in the seventh. Cleveland rallied for three more in the eighth - highlighted by Murphy’s two-run double - and six in the ninth - capped by Gomes’ three-run blast - to finish the rout.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Brantley left the game in the fifth inning with back tightness and was replaced initially by Nyjer Morgan before he left with a knee sprain, pushing Aviles to left field. … Stroman ended up allowing five runs - four earned - and five hits in 1 1/3 innings after being knocked around for four runs while recording five outs on Sunday. … Murphy recorded five hits for the third time in his career, five RBIs for the third time in his career and three doubles for the third time as well. Murphy and Chisenhall became the first pair of Cleveland players to finish with five hits in a nine-inning game since 1928.
