Red Sox 11, Astros 0: Brock Holt homered among five hits and Clay Buchholz struck out a career-high 12 in his first shutout of the season as visiting Boston blanked Houston.

Jackie Bradley Jr., Christian Vazquez, Xander Bogaerts and Mookie Betts each joined fellow rookie Holt with at least one RBI for the Red Sox, who head into the All-Star break with four wins in their last five games. Buchholz (4-5) scattered three hits and did not walk a batter in his fifth career shutout and first complete game of the season.

Astros starter Brad Peacock (3-6) was lifted after recording just one out and was charged with one run on two hits and a walk. Holt led off the game with a blast into the second deck in right and Peacock loaded the bases on a single, a walk and a hit-by-pitch before Anthony Bass came out of the bullpen and worked the next 3 1/3 frames.

Bass, who escaped the jam in the first by inducing a double play, yielded three singles and a walk in the second inning but got away with just one run allowed thanks to another double play before an error helped Boston tack on two runs in the third. Bradley Jr.’s single plated Mike Napoli and Daniel Nava came in to score on Bogaerts' fly to right-center to make it a 4-0 gap.

The Red Sox loaded the bases again in the fifth and scored two when Vazquez reached on an infield single and Houston second baseman Jose Altuve’s errant throw allowed a second runner to cross. Boston added two more runs in the seventh and tacked on three in the ninth when Betts delivered a two-run triple before scoring on David Ortiz’s groundout.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Holt, who is from Texas and was playing his first career series in his home state, went 10-for-15 in the three-game set. … Buchholz will get a chance to follow up his strong performance almost immediately as he is scheduled to start Boston’s first game after the All-Star break on Friday. … The Astros committed as many errors (three) as recorded hits.
