Mets 5, Cardinals 1: Lucas Duda, David Wright and Marlon Byrd homered to back 6 2/3 strong innings from Dillon Gee as host New York snapped a three-game losing streak.

Gee (5-6) won his third consecutive start, yielding one run on six hits and striking out seven as the Mets won for only the second time in nine games and improved to 4-11 in their last 15 games at Citi Field.

Cardinals rookie right-hander Shelby Miller (7-4) allowed a career-high four runs on five hits and struck out 10 in six innings to lose for only the second time in eight starts. Allen Craig homered for the second straight game for St. Louis, which fell to a major league-best 23-11 away from home.

The Mets grabbed a 2-0 lead for the second game in a row on two-out RBI singles by Daniel Murphy and Duda in the first inning. Duda made it 3-0 in the third with his 11th homer before Craig went deep in the sixth to cut the deficit to two runs.

Wright restored the three-run lead with a bomb to center field in the bottom of the inning and Byrd added insurance with his solo shot off reliever Seth Maness in the seventh. It marked only the third time this season that the Cardinals have permitted three homers in a game.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Cardinals 3B David Freese went 0-for-4 to halt his 20-game hitting streak, the longest in the majors this year. ... Duda went 2-for-3 after entering the contest in a 2-for-20 slump. ... Cardinals C Yadier Molina, who was hitless in nine at-bats versus Gee, had three hits against him and finished 3-for-4 to reclaim the NL batting lead at .358.
