Astros 13, Mariners 2: Jose Altuve had three hits, three RBIs and three steals and L.J. Hoes also drove in three runs as Houston rolled past host Seattle.

Brandon Laird also had three RBIs – including a two-run homer – and Chris Carter reached base five times on three hits and two walks as the Astros racked up 17 hits while beating Seattle for the second straight night. The Mariners allowed 10 extra-base hits while losing for the third straight game and seventh time in their last 10.

Jordan Lyles (7-7) allowed two runs (one earned) and four hits in six innings. Eight of Houston’s major league-low 49 victories have come against Seattle.

Jonathan Villar led off the game by smacking the first pitch from Mariners starter Joe Saunders (11-14) over the left-field wall. Hoes singled in a run in the second and had a two-run double in the third as Houston took a 6-1 advantage.

Seattle’s Franklin Gutierrez delivered his second run-scoring single in the sixth before Laird responded with a blast off the left-field foul pole in the seventh. Matt Dominguez and Carter drew bases-loaded walks in the eighth to stretch the lead to 10-2 and the Astros pushed across three more runs in the ninth.
