Rockies 9, Giants 8: Michael Cuddyer's second home run of the game - a solo shot to lead off the ninth inning - gave visiting Colorado an improbable victory.

Cuddyer also hit a three-run homer during a five-run fifth as Colorado, which snapped a four-game losing streak, rallied from a 6-0 deficit to improve to 3-34 on the road when their opponent scores first. Cuddyer had three hits to raise his average to .33033 - behind only Atlanta's Chris Johnson (.33039) in the National League batting race.

Hunter Pence went 4-for-5, recorded his second career six-RBI game and hit his 20th homer to join the 20-20 club for the first time - a three-run shot off the left-field foul pole in the first inning. His run-scoring double gave the Giants a 6-0 lead in the fourth and his two-run single in the eighth tied it 8-8.

Pinch hitter Ryan Wheeler put Colorado ahead with an RBI single in the sixth inning and DJ LeMahieu drove in two runs, including a sacrifice fly to give the Rockies an 8-6 lead in the eighth. Rex Brothers pitched the ninth for his 16th save as the Rockies won for only the second time in eight games in San Francisco this season.

Buster Posey and Marco Scutaro also drove in runs for the Giants, who were trying to win three straight for the first time since Aug. 15-17. Sergio Romo (4-7) yielded Cuddyer's homer in the ninth inning while Wilton Lopez (3-4) recorded the victory despite allowing the tying runs in the eighth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Rockies starter Jorge De La Rosa, who had won his last six starts, failed in his bid to win his career-high 17th game after allowing four runs and four hits in two innings. De La Rosa, who yielded more than three runs for only the second time in his last 17 starts, left with a sore thumb on his pitching hand - an injury he has battled since June 17. ... Pence (21 stolen bases) joins Colorado's Carlos Gonzalez (26 home runs, 21 stolen bases) and the Los Angeles' Angels Mike Trout (23, 32) as the only members of the 20-20 club in baseball this season. He also became the first Giant to accomplish the feat since Barry Bonds (37, 28) in 1998. ... San Francisco starter Ryan Vogelsong allowed five runs - all in the fifth inning - and eight hits in five frames.
