Reds 6, Astros 5 (13): Jay Bruce doubled home two runs in the top of the 13th inning and finished with three hits and three RBIs as visiting Cincinnati completed a three-game sweep.

Billy Hamilton, who ignited the winning rally with a leadoff walk, collected his first three career hits and became the first player since 1920 to steal four bases in his initial major-league start as the Reds pulled within one-half game of Pittsburgh for the top National League wild-card spot.

Alfredo Simon (6-4) worked three scoreless innings and Aroldis Chapman allowed a run in a shaky 13th before securing his 37th save to keep Cincinnati 2 1/2 games behind first-place St. Louis in the NL Central. The Reds also moved 5 1/2 games ahead of Washington for the second wild card.

Three walks, a stolen base and a wild pitch by Jorge De Leon (0-1) loaded the bases for Bruce, who hammered a double off the wall in left-center to finish 7-for-13 with 10 RBIs in the series and send Houston to its fifth straight defeat. Brandon Barnes homered and Carlos Corporan drove in a pair of runs for the Astros.

Bruce had an RBI double in a two-run first and Hamilton doubled - his first career hit - and scored on Shin-Soo Choo's single in the second to stake the Reds to a 3-0 lead. Hamilton's first career RBI in in the sixth made it 4-2, but Houston tied it in the bottom of the inning on consecutive run-scoring doubles by L.J. Hoes and Corporan.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Astros starter Brad Peacock gave up four runs - three earned - in 5 2/3 innings, while Cincinnati's Greg Reynolds lasted only 3 2/3 innings and allowed two runs on four hits. ... Bruce's three doubles gave him 41 for the season and allowed him to join Baltimore's Chris Davis as the only players in the majors with 30 homers, 100 RBIs and 40 doubles. ... Reds 1B Joey Votto went 0-for-4 and had his 23-game hitting streak at Minute Maid Park snapped. It was the longest run in the stadium's history.
