Red Sox 7, Giants 0:
Jon Lester dominated through 8 1/3 innings and Shane Victorino drove in a run among three hits as visiting Boston took the opener from San Francisco.

Daniel Nava collected an RBI and two runs scored and Stephen Drew doubled in a run as the Red Sox remained a game ahead of the Tampa Bay Rays in the American League East. Lester (11-7) yielded six hits and struck out three to snap a three-start winless streak.

Andres Torres had three hits for the Giants, who suffered their second straight setback. Tim Lincecum (6-13) was charged with five runs on nine hits and four walks in five-plus innings while allowing a run to score on a balk.

Boston put together a three-run rally in the second, loading the bases on a pair of singles and a walk before Will Middlebrooks sent a sacrifice fly to right to open the scoring. Nava came in to score on the balk before Victorino’s RBI single capped the uprising.

Drew’s double to the wall in center plated Nava in the fifth and Jacoby Ellsbury ended Lincecum’s night with a single leading off the sixth before scoring on a wild pitch later in the frame. Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Nava each drove in a run in the ninth to put it away.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Red Sox recalled SS Xander Bogaerts and RHP Brayan Villarreal from Triple-A Pawtucket and activated C David Ross from the 60-day DL. INF Brock Holt, RHP Rubby De La Rosa and C Ryan Lavarnway were optioned to Triple-A, and RHPs Andrew Bailey and Clay Buchholz were moved to the 60-day DL to make room on the 40-man roster for Bogaerts and Ross. … The loss ensured that the Giants would remain in sole possession of last place in the National League West, a half-game behind the San Diego Padres. … Lester has allowed one earned run in 17 1/3 career innings at San Francisco.
