Giants 16, Rockies 4: Ryan Vogelsong prevailed despite having his quality start streak end at 16 games and visiting San Francisco exploded for 13 runs in the final three innings en route to a season-high total to win for the second time in its last nine contests.

Vogelsong (9-5), who improved to 5-0 lifetime against Colorado, allowed one hit over the first six innings before yielding four runs and four hits in the seventh. He hadn’t allowed four runs in a game since April 26.

Red-hot Buster Posey went 4-for-5 with a three-run homer, Melky Cabrera stroked a two-run double and Brett Pill added a solo shot for the Giants, who scored four runs in the seventh inning, six in the eighth and three in the ninth en route to their seventh win in their last eight games at Coors Field.

Wilin Rosario homered for the second straight game - his National League rookie-leading 18th of the season – for the Rockies, who fell to 5-14 since the All-Star break.

Colorado’s Jonathan Sanchez (0-3) lost his career-worst sixth straight start in his first appearance against his former club. He allowed two runs (one earned), three hits and walked three in three innings.

The Giants took a 7-0 lead in the seventh inning, highlighted by Angel Pagan’s RBI triple after Vogelsong led off with a double and Cabrera’s double down the left field line. Pagan finished with three hits and four runs scored.

Colorado’s Dexter Fowler set a franchise record with his 50th career triple in the seventh inning and scored on Carlos Gonzalez’ sacrifice fly. After back-to-back doubles by Jordan Pacheco and Todd Helton, Rosario delivered a two-run shot just inside the left field foul pole to make it 7-4 and chase Vogelsong.

Posey’s 15th homer of the season came in the eighth inning. He is 32-for-69 (.464) with five homers and 22 RBIs since the All-Star break.

Hector Sanchez added a pinch-hit two-run double in the ninth inning for the Giants.

They uncorked a franchise-record five Friday, two of which allowed runs to score in the eighth inning. … The Giants, who matched a season high with 16 hits, hadn't scored 16 or more runs since 2010. ...
