Astros 5, Cardinals 4: Jose Altuve hit a three-run homer to lead Houston to its fifth consecutive home win.

The Astros built a 5-2 lead over the first two innings, pulling in front on Altuve’s blast off Kyle Lohse (4-1) in the second. St. Louis got within one in the top of the third when Matt Holliday tripled in a run and came home on a sacrifice fly by Allen Craig, but Lucas Harrell (2-2) combined with four relievers to keep the National League’s highest-scoring offense off the board the rest of the way.

Brett Myers worked around a leadoff single by Rafael Furcal in the ninth for his seventh save, getting Jon Jay to ground into a double play and striking out Holliday to end it.

Harrell allowed four runs over 5 1/3 frames. He yielded seven hits and two walks and also balked in a run in the second inning.

Lohse gave up five runs - three earned - on seven hits in five innings. He struck out three and walked one.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Cardinals lost for just the sixth time in their last 27 games following a loss. ... St. Louis had won Lohse’s previous five starts. ... Houston’s Jordan Schafer became the fourth player in the majors to reach double figures in stolen bases.
