White Sox 1, Brewers 0 (10): Eduardo Escobar drilled the game-winning double in the bottom of the 10th as host Chicago moved back into first place in the American League Central.

Alejandro De Aza led off the inning with a slicing double down the left-field line against Manny Parra (0-2). Adam Dunn walked with one out before Escobar smashed the ball deep to left-center to easily score De Aza.

Brian Bruney (1-0) got the win after pitching out of a jam in the top of the 10th as the White Sox took a half-game lead over the Indians.

Chicago’s Jose Quintana and Milwaukee’s Michael Fiers both delivered stellar starting performances.

Quintana tossed eight innings of six-hit ball. He struck out four and didn’t walk a batter for the third consecutive start.

Fiers struck out seven in 7 1/3 innings. He gave up five hits and one walk.

De Aza doubled to put runners at second and third in the eighth and finish Fiers’ afternoon. But Francisco Rodriguez struck out Gordon Beckham and Adam Dunn to keep the game scoreless.

Milwaukee got singles from Aramis Ramirez and Corey Hart in the top ninth but the threat ended when pinch runner Nyjer Morgan apparently lost track of the count and was easily thrown out attempting to steal third.

The White Sox loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth but Orlando Hudson popped out to end the inning.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Chicago acquired third baseman Kevin Youkilis from the Boston Red Sox during the latter innings of Sunday’s game, dealing right-hander Zach Stewart and utilityman Brent Lillibridge. … Quintana also got a no-decision while throwing eight shutout innings in his previous start against the Los Angeles Dodgers. … Fiers has allowed one or zero runs in three of his five major-league starts. … Beckham had two hits and is 8-for-17 over his last four games. … Milwaukee’s Ryan Braun went 1-for-4 to stretch his interleague hitting streak to 28 games.
