Mets 6, Yankees 4: Ike Davis' three-run homer capped a five-run first inning as the host Mets pounced on Andy Pettitte to win their fourth consecutive game.

Mets left-hander Jonathon Niese (5-3) held the Yankees scoreless before giving up solo homers in the sixth and seventh innings. He allowed two runs on eight hits in 6 1/3 innings.

Justin Turner had a two-run single in the first inning and David Wright added an RBI double in the seventh as the Mets handed the Yankees their third straight loss.

Mets closer Frank Francisco, who caused a stir by calling the Yankees "chickens," put two runners on with one out in the ninth before escaping the jam for his 18th save.

Robinson Cano clubbed a two-run homer, and Alex Rodriguez and Andruw Jones had solo shots for the Yankees, who swept the Mets two weeks ago to trigger a 10-game winning streak.

Pettitte (3-3) was rocked for five runs and five hits in the opening frame, matching the total amount of runs he allowed in his first three starts this month. He lasted six innings and gave up five runs on seven hits.

Turner's two-out, two-run single got the Mets on the board before Davis followed with his homer that hit off the glove of Yankees right fielder Nick Swisher.

The Yankees pecked away and closed within 6-4 on Cano's two-run shot in the eighth, giving them a chance to face Francisco.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Mets LHP Johan Santana received the key to the city from New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg on Friday. Santana was honored for his no-hitter on June 1, the first in franchise history. ... Rodriguez hit the 641st homer of his career, putting him 19 behind Willie Mays for fourth place on the career list. Jones swatted No. 427 in his career. ... Francisco did not back down from the "chickens" comments that made front-page news in the New York Post. "I made a simple comment because they complain a lot for every call, for everything," Francisco said. "I thought it was funny. But I didn't expect it to make a big deal like that." ... Friday marked only the third time in Pettitte's career and first since September 2001 that he allowed at least five runs in the first inning. ... Five of Davis' eight homers have come with at least two runners aboard.
